Question: why are you so interested in how much excersise people get as they grow older? Is it because you would like people to stay as healthy when they are older, as much as they are when they were younger
You’re absolutely right, I would like to see people stay healthy into older adulthood.
We are very good at keeping people alive but we should also aim to help people have good quality years of life in their old age. Measuring exercise capacity is a good way to test how healthy and capable someone is of living independently. If we can understand what behaviours in life result in older adults being healthy and independent then we will be able to advise best on how to achieve more quality years of life and reduce the number of people in hospital (which is expensive for the tax payers).
Yes I do think it is a good idea to stay healthy, I was just interested to find out more. I look forward to talking to you on the chat tomorrow morning ( if you are going), and thank you for answering! It is very interesting! especially about the tax payer but!
