No they don’t. Some diseases can have severe effects in animals that don’t affect us, and vice versa. It very much depends on the animal and the disease.

There are lots of diseases that are very similar and that’s why you can use an animals as a model, like diabetes, some kidneys diseases or even cardiac diseases (for example the Main Coon cats are used as model of a cardiac diseases that often affects athletes, HCM).
