Hi Connor- I haven’t ever worked on breast cancer myself but the cells I study are called natural killer cells (great name!) and one of their main jobs is to destroy tumour cells. I work on them in the context of infection, but there are lots of exciting projects going on now in other labs that are looking at trying to harness natural killer cells and use their tumour cell-killing powers to treat cancer. Cancer research is really important of course and would be a great area to work in if you are interested in science. My mom was actually successfully treated for breast cancer last year so I am definitely in favour of more cancer research!
