Hi Emma, Waww, this is a mega-question. Some people don’t believe in evolution so be aware of that when you’re talking about it and it would be a good idea to check out some other sources of information in addition to my attempts to answer your question:)
The theory of evolution come from a man called Charles R Darwin. Basically, animals (including humans) survive in order to reproduce and thus they pass their genes (traits) to their children. If an animal is ‘weak’ because it has some trait then it might get eaten by another animal or die because it can’t survive in it’s environment, in this situation it does not survive long enough to pass on its trait to it’s offspring so the trait is lost from the planet. Equally, if an animal has a trait that makes it ‘strong’ then it will survive to make offspring and pass that trait on to improve the likelihood that it’s offspring will survive.
