I like that it is always a bit different from the previous day. And I love that you start a project from zero (or almost) and then follow it as it develops: it’s like it is your baby xD
While I was looking for a picture my colleagues kept mocking me saying my hair was always in the way (I have long, curly hair) and that picture was the only one where you couldn’t see it. So I picked that one 🙂

I enjoy working with people on a study and seeing the results come to fruition. I chose a picture of me with our laboratory kit that we bought during the summer. It is called tensiomyography and can measure the speed a muscle contracts by electrical stimulation.

the thing I enjoy most about my job is having an idea that you think will be a good one, then seeing it work. The bit in the middle is the hard work, but you can’t beat the excitement of knowing that something you thought of was a good idea and might make a difference.

My profile pic was influenced by the fact that I hate having my photo taken, but we had to have these done when my department opened, so it’s probably the photo I always use for everything.

I like the day-to-day variety in my job and hanging out with the volunteers who can be very funny and inspiring.

My profile picture is just a picture of me drinking tea.

I really like brainstorming with my colleagues. The person I sit next to is more senior and knows a huge amount about immunology, so we discuss data and experiments quite a lot. It’s really fun to think out loud with someone and then suddenly have a eureka moment together!

My profile picture is of me getting samples out of the liquid nitrogen storage container, which is about -196°C and turns quickly back to gas at room temperature (which is why it looks so smokey!). I took that photo a few months ago after a senior male scientist made some unfortunate public comments about female scientists… and lots of women posted jokey photos of them just getting on with their jobs!
