  Manchester has a couple of great science museums and both do some fantastic stuff with schools – in fact I’ve worked with both before now – and its free. Kids get to come round the museum, handling and learning about objects, doing activities in a special ‘learning lab’, all sorts of things. However, I live 15 miles away and when I’ve spoken to local schools they’ve said the costs of transport to get the kids there is high, and some families can’t afford it along with everything else they have to pay for (uniforms, PE kit, afterschool clubs etc) so I’d use the money to top up funds and provide access for those schools/kids who find it a struggle as it might be the only time the kids get to experience these amazing activites.
