Easily the completion of my PhD. It took 3.5 years of research and at many points I thought it would never end. My research training is what helps me to train other University students so effectively.
Hopefully it’s yet to come, but my best to date is the invention and development of a laboratory method to help scientists see whether a protein in cells is turned On or Off (which our bodies to by adding or taking away a chemical group from that protein) – this method has since been used by laboratories around the world, including Australia, Canada and the US.
I won a grant to have access to a very fancy facility in the campus where I work (Harwell). Not just my application was successful but the director of the facility asked me to start a proper collaboration.
