When I was in secondary school, I reallly like Philippa Gregory and all her historical fiction books, especially ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’.
I now read quite a wide range of books but I have read two by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie in the last few years and I loved ‘Americanah’. She is a really thought-provoking author, but writes in a really beautiful way too.
I have to say, when I was in school and even when doing my undergraduate degree, I never had any interest in reading books about science or public health. But now that’s one of the main genres I read and there are loads of really good authors! I think when you get to the point of applying for university, reading at least one book related to the subject you are applying for is a great idea as it will give you something different to talk about in your personal statement or, if you have one, an interview. 🙂
When I was in school I loved this writer from Norway, Jostein Gaarder. His book “The Solitaire Mystery” make me look books and after that I started reading a lot.
Today I like a lot of different kinds of books, I must say that I am going back to read all the big classic I am missing. The last book I read is “Big Brother”.
I love reading Harry Potter sort of books with magic and stuff, I like some comedy books too and KittyKat73 (whos my best friend) loves Harry Potter too and Percy Jackson! 🙂
