      Hi Megan,
      Dogs bodies just don’t handles salt or sugar that well – they’re evolved to eat only meat, after all, so they don’t really have the machinery to be able to process them. A small amount of salt is OK, but dogs can get salt (sodium) poisoning very easily.
      I assume you’ve got a dog? The best food is proper dog food, probably the dry food, which is made up with all the nutrients your dog will need. Human food is usually not a great idea – even if it is nice to sometimes slip your dog the odd bit of sausage under the table!
